My new Nikon L820 camera is the first that has given me the opportunity to effectively photograph the moon. Lunar photography has always been something I've strove for in the medium, considering my longtime love of the cosmos in general. As far as the photography of this sort that I've done? So far,so good. That being said, there's still a lot of room for growth too. Earlier this month the moon helped me along all on it's own by presenting itself with a very dramatic transition into a full moon. So to the end month of July,I'd like to present to you "the moon in review".

Seawall's Artful Photography On A Beautiful July Afternoon in 2014
Last Friday,I went with my family to visit Seawall,a beautifully picturesque seaside area full of ledges and rocky beaches to walk on. Using the digital zoom on my new camera,I noticed that some of the photos taken, especially those of passing sail boats on the ocean, had a visual quality closer to the brush strokes of a painting than to the pixels of a digital photograph. So I decided to use a special online photo effects program to bring that painted quality even further out in these photos. While I'm well aware many photographers prefer the technique of "naturalness" in their photos and prefer not to blend two artistic techniques? I do hope that all of you see the beauty bought out in these images.

Fireworks In Southwest Harbor,Maine
On Independence Day in New England? Hurricane Arthur,a storm arriving very early in the season, ravaged the East Coast of America. Fireworks presentations along the coastline's were cancelled in many places, save for Bangor Maine where the schedules of local fire departments forced them to do their fireworks presentation in the pouring rain. It was my own mother who heard that the town of Southeast Harbor Maine, where I'd never been to,moved theirs up a week to this past Saturday. They don't have fireworks presentations every single year. So my family and I ventured to go. It was in all honesty one of the most vibrant celebrations of life and color I'd seen come from human hands. Enjoy this sampling of what we say that night!
