During a Mother's Day trip to Moose Point State Park near Belfast Maine, I was a bit vexed that so many of the local tourist attractions were charging exorbitant prices (even to residents) to visit the facilities-even before the summer months. One of the things that lifted my spirits after that unfortunate display of human cynicism was seeing how many of the ocean-tumbled rock formations created patterns similar to abstract expressionist paintings. It was so gratifying to see an example of nature's ability to create its own artwork for free. And how it all adds to the beauty and color of the world.
